A silver lining to come from the current situation is seeing people come together and trying to add a bit of positivity and hope into our lives.
Over the last couple of weeks in my local area rainbow bunting has been popping up all over different streets and houses. It’s such a simple thing but has been so lovely to see and brought a little bit of joy to the everyday at the moment.
Last week when I opened my blinds one morning we seen my street had rainbow bunting added by one of the neighbours. I’ve lived in the same street all my life and many of the neighbours have always lived here too, so it’s always been a lovely friendly place. Often when I was younger we had regular street parties for occasions such as The Queen’s Diamond Jubilee so we’re all for an occasion.
Our neighbours kindly ordered enough bunting to do the whole street and didn’t want anything for it. It’s such a kind gesture and gave all the neighbours something to get involved in. Of course the street has been doing the Clap for Our Carers every Thursday at 8pm for the last 7 weeks and every Friday morning having a dance party with everyone in their own front garden social distanced.
Our street then kickstarted the rainbow bunting on our estate and it seems everyday a little bit more goes up somewhere. On our daily exercise the bridge we run over has also had rainbow ribbon tied to it other the last few weeks. I have no idea who started it but more and more keeps being added by people who pass on their exercise I presume. So we added a bit of a ribbon too. Again it’s just something so small but lovely to see.
Especially with the celebrations of the 75th Anniversary of VE Day yesterday, it’s great to see people coming together and finding/spreading happiness in difficult times. And soon the world will being to go back to normal, whatever that will be, and hopefully the world will carry on finding the silver linings in everyday life. There’s always a rainbow! ?✨?
