We might be at the end of the month but right at the beginning of it I went with my Mam to the see Torvill and Dean’s Dancing On Ice The Live Tour at the Metro Radio Arena. I was so excited to see it after loving the TV series since it began.
I can honestly say it was one of the best shows I have ever seen and I do tend to see a lot. There was everything you could want from a show like this.
From the start the atmosphere was great with Andy Collins tasked with warming up the crowd. And just like that the spectacular show started.
After a great upbeat opening number from professionals and celebrities. The first half of the show was set out like the TV show, with each couple performing their best routine from the show and being scored by the judges, Denise Van Outen, Jayne Torvill and Christopher Dean.
After they had all performed you got the chance to vote via text for your favourite to win the tour trophy for that show. The second half then started with the top two, for our show it was Jake Quickenden and Vanessa Bauer and Kem Cetinay and Alex Murphy. The judges scored their performances of the famous Bolero and for our show Jake and Vanessa won.
The show continued with all couples performing their favourite routine from the series mixed with a number of routines from different professionals. Torvill and Dean also performed a routine which was just amazing to see.
The show ended with another great upbeat performance by the professional, celebrities and of course Torvill and Dean.
One performance that I haven’t been able to get over was a routine by Brianne Delcourt, Matt Evers and Dan Whiston to Florence and the Machine’s Shake It Out. I can honestly say it was one of the best things I’ve ever seen and a favourite part of the show for me!
The whole show was unbelievable! For being a fan it was just great to see something similar but then focused on amazing aspects of ice skating and dancing.
I was honestly also blown away by the skill of the professionals. I absolutely love ice skating but sadly can just about get round an ice rink haha, so to see people perform unbelievable routines and make it look so effortless was amazing.
Also getting to see the legendary Torvill and Dean perform was a whole other level.
It is safe to say I’m sad I went on the last day it was in Newcastle as I definitely would of booked to go again it was that good and I’ve only ever done that once before. I am already looking forward to next years series and of course going to the tour again.
