Disney 2019 Movie Reviews

So even though we’re in the first week of 2020 I just wanted to do a summary of little reviews for all of the major films released at the cinema by Disney last year. There was so many classics and since I didn’t manage to write a full review on any I thought this would be the best way to do it.

Dumbo

  • I wasn’t too sure what to expect as I hadn’t seen a film centred around cgi animals before but I really enjoyed it. This was the only film in this list I did manage to do a full review on which is some posts back on my blog. So you can read what I thought fully there, I just didn’t want to miss it off.

Aladdin

  • I’ve really loved the princess live actions but I think Aladdin just stood out on another level. The visuals, the cast, soundtrack and adaptation to story created such a fantastic film. I particularly loved Jasmine’s new original song and thought the modern update on the story was the right amount to still parallel the original and feel like a new film at the same time!

Toy Story 4

  • I was so excited for another Toy Story film after all these years. I love all Disney films but Toy Story is definitely one of my favourites! It has one of my favourite characters of all Disney in and the nostalgia of the toys. Finding out what happened to the toys without Andy was a great addition to the movies and the ending felt even more wrapped up than in Toy Story 3. The addition of new toys as well as the original gang and coming full circle with the focus on Woody and Buzz made it a perfect film.

The Lion King

  • Of all the ‘live’ actions I feel like this was the one where you knew exactly what to expect. As the story couldn’t be adapted too much and obviously there would be no actors on screen. This film was literally reliving a classic in a modern way. One of the stand out things of The Lion King is also the soundtrack which I really enjoyed that it had also be updated. It was a great film overall!

Maleficent: Mistress Of Evil

  • I didn’t see the first film until earlier last year but I really enjoyed it and therefore was really pleased to see there was going to be a sequel and I didn’t have to wait years for it. I thought it was great to see a bit more of the story and I really enjoy the concept of a story within a classic disney story.

Frozen II

  • This was possibly the film most hyped about after how successful the first film was and iconic the soundtrack. I had heard reviews where people said they enjoyed it but that the songs didn’t stand out. I loved the first film but if I had to choose a favourite I’d pick this one. I think the story was more in depth and the songs gave me more of a broadway show vibe. I loved it and think it was the perfect sequel to add to the franchise!
