So you may have seen on social media platforms I handed my dissertation in and am now on the home stretch to graduation..eek!
This means I haven’t really had time to do a focused post so thought I would just tell you a little bit on what I did it on as it is a subject I am passionate about. Also with the most recent events of the whales beaching in Australia it was even more relevant to talk about the issue.
I was looking at ‘How the British press portrayed events of whales being affected by climate change within the newspaper industry over the last decade.’
My idea originated from the fact 1) I have always loved whales/dolphins and felt strongly seeing them impacted in the wild and 2) The 2012 film Big Miracle which I saw and thought both the film and real event were amazing (if you haven’t seen it I highly recommend it and look up the real event)
Basically to summarise 10,000 haha … I looked at how newspapers reported stories of whales beaching or being affected by pollution and the reasons behind this. Also linking it the political aspect of policies on climate change.
I chose the topic as I thought it would be a good thing to explore and write so much about. I also wanted to learn a lot more myself and help highlight that this is such a big issue.
I think especially in the world we live in today it’s so important to learn what we can do to help save these amazing animals and help reduce the impact of climate change the best we can.
