So Marvel has not been something I’ve been into and could literally not tell you one thing about any superhero. Probably not what you’d expect to be the first thing you read when clicking on a Spider-Man review but stick with it. If you’ve read my posts in the past then you know I love Disney/Disney Parks and now with Disneyland Paris having a new Marvel hotel and Avengers Campus opening this year I thought it was finally time to see what it’s all about so I have a bit of a clue what everything means when I go!
One thing I found straight away is that the Marvel Cinematic Universe is really overwhelming even down to what way to watch the films, e.g in timeline or chronological order. I decided that the best way to get into watching them when there are so many, would be to just watch the ones that appeal to me most first so that I can actually enjoy them.
The winner on first glance were Tom Holland’s Spider-Man films as from the trailers they looked the most funny and like films I enjoy watching.
I watched Spider-Man: Homecoming and Spider-Man: Far From Home at home before going to seen Spider-Man: No Way Home at the cinema, my first Marvel cinema experience ticked off as well. One thing I’ll note is that thank god I seen all the hype of an important part of watching Marvel – stay till the end of the credits.
I don’t want to give away spoilers because it feels like a minefield and if you’re like me way behind then I don’t want to ruin it.
Overall I loved these films and honestly wished I’d watched them sooner! I really liked the characters and how all Marvel films/superhero’s have an impact and stories intertwine. Out of all three of these films I would say No Way Home was definitely my favourite, the character developments of the main group really felt like it was rounding up their story and there were where they intended to be.
I definitely didn’t see the ending coming and while it was a fantastic ending I feel the series can’t end like that and somehow their story has to continue in some aspect.
As said earlier as someone that has no idea about Marvel I would say yes some details completely went over my head but it didn’t impact on how I viewed the overall story and connection to each character.
It felt there was more to the film than just a classic superhero film and personally with studying film before I loved the detail and references to the franchise as a whole. One of the best additions I think I’ve ever seen in any film was to have the past Spider-Man’s come together as that is so rare and a huge fan favourite!
I feel like it will be very hard to top the Spider-Man films for me but I am looking forward to watching/learning more about Marvel and now can’t wait to get to the parks and experience Avengers Campus.
