So i have wanted to do a blog post about this since I took the tour on my visit to NYC last August and 5 months later I’ve finally got round to it!
This was my second visit to the Big Apple and was hoping to do a tour that was something different to what I had done on my last trip and at the same time really experience New York. We (I took the trip with my parents) had family visiting NY a few months before us so it was very handy to hear about their trip to help with ours!
They told us of this great pizza tour they had done with A Slice of Brooklyn Tours … I heard pizza and was sold!
We booked the tour towards the end of our trip so was looking forward to it during our time there! We were picked up in Manhattan and headed straight to Brooklyn! Our tour guide was Paula who was the perfect guide you could wish for..happy, friendly and got the tour off to the best start! We heard lots of interesting facts about the areas we were passing and some supported by clips from films and Television shows on TV screens on the bus. There was also still plenty of time to just soak up the scenery.
Our first stop was DUMBO (Down Under Manhattan and Brooklyn Overpass), where we got to experience the amazing views of Manhattan from across the river and mainly obviously Brooklyn Bridge. Paula told us some more facts and was more than happy to answer peoples individual questions and take photos for everyone!
After a nice short stop here it was time for the first round of pizza at the famous Grimaldi’s. I had been here on my last visit (not on a tour) however this time there was no queuing for 1 hour which is the norm for the pizzeria! I was looking forward to tasting the amazing pizza again and it didn’t disappoint.
After plenty of time to enjoy the food and the restaurant itself it was back on the bus making our way further down into Brooklyn. We passed through some amazing areas and that I never would of visited without being on the tour and passed more well known areas. A personal highlight of mine was passing by Lenny’s Pizza from the famous opening sequence from the classic Saturday Night Fever.

Second stop was L&B Spumoni Gardens where again we walked straight in to the popular restaurant.
The pizza was a different style of margherita pizza to the first restaurant so didn’t feel like you were eating the same meal! And they had been a nice gap in between restaurants so you were ready for more. Once again the pizza was amazing and loved my first time trying the restaurant.
The last stop was Coney Island. I was so glad to be stopping here again after spending the day before here it quickly became a favourite of mine. A nice stroll along the boardwalk with plenty more opportunity to ask Paula questions and take some snaps. Back on the bus where it was a chilled journey back to Manhattan, well needed.
The tour was really good value for money as you got 2 slices of pizza (trust me with their size that was more than enough) and a soft drink at each restaurant included in the tour price. It was 3 and a half hours long but you had done the length of Brooklyn from and back to Manhattan in that time!
As for the pizzas themselves I can honestly say they were both two of the best pizzas I’ve ever tasted and I basically live on margherita pizza so I’ve had a lot haha. This was actually a really important part of the trip for me, as many of you who know me know how fussy I am so the fact they were both margaritas and I could eat them shows how great this tour is. My parents also enjoyed the pizzas so perfect for everyone no matter what your favourite pizza may be.
I can honestly say this was one of the best tours I have done! Paula absolutely made the day even better by being the perfect person you could need to get to know Brooklyn! I would recommend this to anyone and they do a range of different tours. I will definitely be joining A Slice of Brooklyn on one of their fabulous tours again on my next visit!
Can officially say been there got the tshirt (I bought their tour tshirt of course!)
