The Kissing Booth 3: One Last Time Book Review

Ok so let’s clear up the fact that this is well overdue since the book came out in August but I guess I’ve been trying to prolong the inevitable of writing my last review of The Kissing Booth series and have to come to terms with one of my favourite ever series ending. However what I will say straight away is that it was the best ending and round up of the full series you could wish for as a fan!

As mentioned several times before I’ve done multiple blog posts on The Kissing Booth books and films which you can find on my blog. And while I’ve done a round up of the detours coming to an end I couldn’t not do a bit more of an in-depth look at the final book too!

So here goes.. firstly if you’re reading this and you’ve seen the film but haven’t read the book stop and go read it asap! This might include some spoilers but not giving too much away!

What is so interesting and makes this book different from other main Kissing Booth books is that this one was wrote based on the film rather than the film being based on the books.

The final instalment offers us an ending in which the series comes full circle in terms of storyline while also showing us where the characters are going when we leave them. My favourite part of the book was the ending because while it isn’t a stereotypical happy ending but it is the perfect happy ending for these characters.

The book offers a slightly different perspective than the movie, as is the case with the other books and movies in a sense of key differences such as Levi and Amanda instead of Marco and Chloe.

I think something that has made this series do great is that the characters are relatable and you feel as though you have lived this journey with them. It has a very nostalgic and bittersweet feeling throughout as the characters are fulfilling their dreams and wrapping up relationships and we’re leaving them where they’re supposed to be.

Beth really made the film aspects come to life through the pages which is really impressive considering there were definitely some big impact scenes on screen. For example the Mario Kart race, which I feel was enhances through the book as it detailed the other racers as more classic Mario characters and you really could picture the race.

I also loved the extra detail and insight we got into the bucket list adventures which showed so many sides to each character as they made their way through such as the flash mob scene!

It was great to have the other characters involved all the way through as well and it really helped in terms of the coming full circle aspect. As mentioned I don’t want to spoil too much so all I’ll say about the ending is they got their own perfect happy ending which just like the characters and story itself might not be the stereotypical what you expect but what actually is realistic! It really shows that there is no one right ending and we couldn’t leave the story or characters in a better way! The perfect silver lining!

As said many times previously this is one of my favourite series of all time so a huge thank you to the amazing Beth Reekles for creating these characters and the fantastic story we have read through with them!

Beth’s latest book she released online last year during lockdown is also being published next year under the new UK title ‘Love, Locked Down’ which is something to look forward to add to your reading list!
