So this was a first for me but when I saw Laurie Gilmore was coming to Waterstones in Newcastle I couldn’t miss it!
An evening with Laurie Gilmore was a book talk, Q&A and book signing event all about her best seller firm favourite book series set it the idyllic fictional town of Dream Harbour.
Dream Harbour is a Hallmark film wrapped up in a book with a little bit extra of course.
The event started as the bookshop was closing for the day which in itself was a new experience. We checked in and were given our books we purchased along with our admission tickets, I bought The Strawberry Patch Pancake House with my ticket. I already have a special edition sprayed edges edition but thought it would be nice to have a separate copy signed! I also got The Pumpkin Spice Cafe colouring book which is due to be released later this month! Which is a colouring book based on the first book in this series which is so fun and different.
Obviously I won’t go into details shared as it was a fun experience and gave a real insight between author and readers! Also every event will be slightly different! But we definitely have lots to look forward to on the Dream Harbour front and I loved finding out what inspires the playlists (a firm favourite on mine) and finding out which business Laurie would want to work in.
A definitely think Newcastle is cemented in the Dream Harbour universe in its own way haha hear me out!
At the talk Laurie was gifted Newcastles very own speciality of sweet treats … donuts from Greggs which got the seal of approval.
During the singing I was chatting to Laurie about how Sam Fender being on The Strawberry Patch Pancake House playlist is close enough for us to be in Dream Harbour she shared how much she loved Newcastle and she hadn’t realised the connection until I’d pointed it out earlier.
Overall it was a dream event and made me love this series even more … already on countdown to The Gingerbread Bakery coming out in September!
