Last Resort ๐ŸŒ…๐Ÿ’œ – ARC Review

Another month another ARC review!

Last Resort is follows the story of Abby Ashe who has ended up on her honeymoon alone and going through a major life change. What she didnโ€™t expect was to bump into her first love Miles Barker at the same resort.

What I loved about this story is that both main characters are equals in the sense that yes while it focuses predominantly on Abby from the beginning, we also learn more about Miles as an individual and what has happened in his life to lead him to here as well.

Image sourced from ARC media kit and given permission to use for the purpose of this review. I do not own anything in regard to the image.

The main themes I took from the book are:

  • Second chances
  • Whatโ€™s meant to be will find you
  • Everyone has something theyโ€™re dealing with in private
  • Thereโ€™s no โ€˜rightโ€™ path for life
  • Itโ€™s ok to be honest and scared
  • It can work if you want it to

The idyllic setting of a Cabo resort is perfect for this story, it really immersed you as the reader into the story and could picture the place and characters as if you were there.

As mentioned earlier it was great to see a second chance romance where both characters have a lot to go through individually as well as together , it didnโ€™t feel as though one character has the upper hand in their situation which was refreshing to read.

It gave a very nostalgic theme throughout with the characters knowing each other from their young adult years and therefore knowing each otherโ€™s family and friends. The flashbacks of these elements intertwined with getting to know each other for the people they are now made the story feel relatable as an especially in todayโ€™s world where everything and everyone is so interconnected.

The story also had great elements that did take you by surprise and felt you were on the journey right there with them.

This was a perfect book that just felt really well balanced. I really enjoyed this read and felt it was so feel good and had all the elements you could hope for in this genre.

I want to say a huge thank you to Liz Leiby and the team involved in giving me this opportunity to read an ARC copy!
