Top 10 Tips for New York

© Laura Merritt, 2018. (own photo)

So if you know me or read my last post you’ll know I visited New York last August. Obviously I posted pictures and shared my travels on social media and the main things people commented on was how it looked like we had an amazing time (we did!) and how they couldn’t believe how much we had done.

People kept saying ‘can I take you with me on my trip’ or could I plan it for them, so I got the idea of narrowing it down to 10 ways to help you have the best trip.

Before I get onto those just a bit of background. I’m lucky that my trip in 2017 with my mam and dad for my 21st Birthday was my second having previously visited in 2013 with my grandparents and cousins.

So because it was my second trip I knew exactly what I wanted to do and when I was determined to make it so we could all have the time of our life.

Ok enough chit chat, it was hard to narrow down and it may be a bit wordy but sometimes you’ve just got to haha anyway .. here’s my top 10 tips in no particular order…

That time I took a Pizza Tour in Brooklyn

So i have wanted to do a blog post about this since I took the tour on my visit to NYC last August and 5 months later I’ve finally got round to it!

This was my second visit to the Big Apple and was hoping to do a tour that was something different to what I had done on my last trip and at the same time really experience New York. We (I took the trip with my parents) had family visiting NY a few months before us so it was very handy to hear about their trip to help with ours!

They told us of this great pizza tour they had done with A Slice of Brooklyn Tours … I heard pizza and was sold!

Manchester ❤

manchester heart

This past week like many I haven’t been able to stop thinking about all the victims of the Manchester attack on Monday 22nd. If I’m honest I’ve been a bit lost for words on what to say about it all week as nothing seems to come close to covering it. To see all the families who have been affected and lost someone close to them from such a horrific attack is just devastating. My prayers and love go to everyone affected by it.

Why paying 5p for a carrier bag is not the worst thing ever

This may seem like a bit of a random post but I felt from personal experience of working in retail it is something that was an everyday occurrence. Especially with having earth day this month it is a reminder of how little steps can be done to better the environment.

Pay It Forward…

Pay It Forward is an expression that essentially means to do a good deed for others after you have received one instead of repaying the deed to the original benefactor.

So recently I feel like now more than ever girl power is coming back with a bang like the good old spice girls kinda girl power Also kind of why I went with the ‘that’s my girl’ title for this post as in Fifth Harmony’s song That’s My Girl because one it’s such a catchy tune at the minute lol and two because actually it’s a really good women empowerment song!

How can SeaWorld justify buying a whale knowing it has killed someone due to being in captivity and force it into the same circumstances?

tilikum

I have always loved whales and dolphins since I was younger I just think they are so cute and look so beautiful when they are swimming and playing doing tricks jumping in the air. At the time when I pictured dolphins like this I didn’t picture them in a tank with an auditorium filled with people and flashing cameras and being forced to do it.
