This has been the arc review I have been most excited about. After reading the first book of this duet book series, This Side last month I have been desperate to know how Callie and Brants story ends.
The Other Side picks up ten years since Callie and Brant went their separate ways. They are both in very different places in their lives and still living with their trauma while also battling through the challenges of their new lives.
Once again I don’t want to include spoilers in my review because nothing beats experiencing a new story for the first time. So I also recommend reading my review of the first book in the duet series, This Side to give you a better understanding and more in-depth context of what themes to expect.
Honestly this book was everything it needed to be and more! As mentioned in my previous review I’ve never read this style of book before as in the same story in two separate parts and it certainly beat all expectations!
The way these characters were revisited and their story explored gave a new level on enjoyment and immersion as a reader. It’s very rare you get to see characters stories from the beginning to the end in that much detail.
The main themes I took from this book were:
- Second chances can come at anytime
- True love is never over
- You have to forgive yourself sometimes first
- The past doesn’t go away, you have to learn to live through it
I can confirm after this being my third read by Drea she has easily became one of my favourite authors and I can’t wait to see what other stories come from her in future!
